Dentist

We purchase waste crowns and bridges from dentists in any condition. There are three options available to dentists wishing to sell their waste crowns.

Dentist Option 1

You can request a visit to your practice upon which we will electronically weigh your waste crowns and issue you with a cash payment on-the-spot. This IS NOT the most accurate method but a lot of our clients prefer this option as it is quick, simple and convenient. When we purchase waste crowns in this manner, there is an element of risk that we must take into consideration.

All of the waste crowns that we buy on a day to day basis vary in quality and inevitably we wind up purchasing a large amount of non-precious crowns. The truth is, there is just no way to tell when giving valuations on-the-road. To counter this as best as we can, we weigh your crowns using a fixed unit gram price. (a higher fixed unit gram price is applied to yellow gold crowns). This unit price assumes that all of your crowns are of medium quality. On average, any poor quality materials will be balanced out by any higher quality materials within the batch. Any company that purchases your dental scrap on-the-road will use this method.

Dentist Option 2

You can allow us to perform non-destructive analysis upon your waste crowns using XRF technology. This method is preferential as it completely eliminates the risk of purchasing any non-precious materials. It also ensures that you receive a much more accurate payment for your dental scrap.

Due to the non-destructive nature of this option, your waste crowns can be returned to you if you are not 100% happy with your valuation.

Dentist Option 3

Individual Melt and Assay. The processing time of an individual Melt and Assay for dental scrap is 72 hours. This option offers absolute accuracy. All dental material is placed into a ball mill to crush any biological matter and old amalgam fillings that may be present beneath the extracted metal crowns. Once removed from the ball mill, the material is placed into a fine mesh tumbler to separate the finely crushed biological matter and amalgam filings from the metal crowns. This is to ensure that no mercury finds its way into our furnace, thus eradicating any potential for harmful mercury vapour.

The metal dental crowns are then placed into a high temperature (1900c) furnace where they are heated into a molten homogeneous state. Once molten, the metal is poured into an ingot casting mold and left to solidify.

The resulting ingot is then placed inside our X-Ray Fluorescent machine which is specially calibrated to detect precious metals to within .3% accuracy. Using these readings alongside the weight of the ingot, we can ascertain the precise value of our clients material. This stage of processing is called “The Assay”.

We will then present our assay report to the client, and make payment once instructed to do so. A receipt will also be sent via email immediately.

REVIEWS

Highly recommended to me by a friend after I had my waste dental crowns weighed and valued by another company and decided to seek further valuations. King refining paid me nearly double the money that had been offered to me by the other company two days previously. I found them to be an honest company with excellent customer service. 5 stars.

Very fair and quick professional service. Mike recommended the 'melt and assay' service because there were several old gold crowns in the scrap. Within 48 hours, he contacted me with a much better price! Many thanks Mike.

I trusted king refiners with a very large amount of dental precious metal scrap that I had been saving over more than 3 decades. I was extremely happy with the monetary returns, but even more impressive was the quality of customer service that I received. I would recommend in an instant.
