The filings and dust caught on on your worktop typically have a very high precious metal content. This is typically brushed and put into a lemel pot and should always be kept separate from your low grade sweep.

Extractor bags

Floor sweepings and suction dust are processed differently to the above due to the higher volume of material. Incineration is performed initially to break the material down. The resulting “ash” will then be placed into a ball mill to break it down into a fine homogenous powder. Numerous samples are then taken and assayed to ascertain the precious metal content and value.

Platinum/Palladium foils

Any carpeting in your work area collects a surprising amount of precious metal waste over time. Again, due to the large volume of material, processing is a little more time consuming than that of lemel and solids. The material needs to be broken down into a more manageable form. One of our clients work space carpets was found to have collected a little over £17,000 worth of precious metal waste over a period of time.

CARPETING
